2020 Pandemic 'Isolation' Series
This oil pastel painting was created partially on-site at Little Harbor in Marblehead, MA. It is the third of a series created during the Covid-19 Pandemic, depicting the longest phase. This was a period of withdrawal from social activities, in-person work, and personal contact with family, friends, and colleagues. A sense of suspended time, without normal markings of beginnings, middles and ends, permeated daily life. Tides ebbed and flowed; the sun rose and set; people communicated through electronic devices. And loved-ones got sick. Luckily, some recovered. But millions of people didn't, and died alone. Meanwhile, the world kept turning while many of us waited and followed the best medical advice available - grounded for the time being.
