Gallery > Plein Air Travel Paintings

This is my beach chair outside my stone hut at Osho Oasis, a Yoga Retreat on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. I took a day to myself to paint and relax, during a weeklong workshop, 'Creating From the Spirit,' with author Dan Wakefield. Just after Hurricane Opal and prior to Pearl, the Caribbean was unusually active and the air so humid that none of my watercolors would dry. But today I could just relax in my safe little lagoon. A day or two later, we left in a hurry to ride out Pearl in a Cancun hotel. Our waterside resort, we heard later, was hit head-on and wiped out.
