Smaller varieties of sunflowers are as much fun to paint as the big ones that grow in fields. At least they can be caught in a vase so as to study the light as it shines on the petals and leaves.

'Eternal Summer' has special significance to those who consider that sunflower faces follow the sun as it arches across the sky over the day, representing hope and positivity with the passage of time. As a theme and image of a local high school's 50th reunion, this painting was appropriately acquired by a member of their reunion committee, finding its new home in Middleton, MA.
